Kettlebellista: Thank you Jessica for taking time off your busy schedule for this interview. Let me start the interview by asking you how long have you been exercising and how did you come across lifting Kettlebells?
Jessica: I have been exercising my whole life . My dad had me in the water before I could walk! I started lifting Kettlebells about 7yrs ago when my partners Maya & Steve introduced us to the workout and I have been hooked ever since
Kettlebellista: Were you intimidated to the fact that you would be lifting a piece of metal?
Jessica: At first it took some time for my body to get used to the workout and the odd shape of the Kettlebell. It was not like any exercise I had done before. Everything about it was new and exciting but once I got used to the swing it felt natural.
Kettlebellista: Typical response of women here in the Philippines that lifting will make you big. Did you have the same belief before lifting Kettlebells?
Jessica: I think most woman have that fear, but once you understand how a Kettlebell works you no longer fear it. Kettlebell methods were designed to increase strength, stamina, and coordination by challenging our muscular, cardiovascular and central nervous systems simultaneously. These fast effective workouts also help to burn fat and improve flexibility. It keeps you lean and fit!
Kettlebellista: What was the trigger point that made you stop everything and decided that “I want to be a Master of Sport” in lifting Kettlebells?
Jessica: I wanted to do something that motivated me in every way both physically and mentally . Plus it truly is the hardest workout I have ever done & I love the challenge of it.
Kettlebellista: I can see that you really love lifting Kettlebells, so much so that you started creating and spreading Kettle Guard. For the interested, where can we get this?

Kettlebellista: How did lifting kettlebells keep you in shape before and after birth? Because …Man, you are in shape!
Jessica: I literally worked out with Kettlebells the day before I gave birth I loved it so much we made a DVD (it’s also available on http://www.ickbgirls.com). It is a great workout because you can do it anywhere and get a fabulous workout in under 30 minutes.
Kettlebellista: Every mom or mom to be loves a short and effective workout! What can you say to Filipino Women or in women in general that are hesitating to lift Kettlebells?
Jessica: Why not try it ? It is the perfect time to try something new – just make sure to find a gym where they are certified to teach you the proper techniques.
Kettlebellista: You are a proud member of the well known Ice Chamber girls (ICKBGirls.com), how does it feel knowing that a LOT of people including men look up to you guys. Any tips for the girls who want to achieve a Master of Sport rank in the future?
Jessica: I feel really proud to be a part of the first All Women’s Team in the world. I have the priviledge of working out with incredibly committed and talented athletes. I say you should always surround yourself with people who inspire you because when you do there really is no stopping you !! Work Hard and Have fun !
